CATAPULT | A Caribbean Arts Grant is a COVID-19 relief programme conceptualized by Kingston Creative (Jamaica) and Fresh Milk (Barbados) and funded by the American Friends of Jamaica | The AFJ (USA). Designed as a capacity building initiative it will directly provide financial support to over 1,000 Caribbean artists, cultural practitioners and creative entrepreneurs impacted by the pandemic and working in the themes of culture, human rights, gender, LGBTQIA+, and climate justice.

The collaboration will support the following projects: (i) Caribbean Artist Showcase, (ii) Caribbean Creative Online, (iii) Digital Creative Training, (iv), Consultancy Vouchers, (v) Lockdown Virtual Salon and (vi) Stay Home Artist Residency.

From Suriname, Miguel Keerveld will participate in the CATAPULT Stay Home Artist Residency in Group 3: October 19–December 11, 2020. SAX will keep you posted about his residency.

Also from Suriname, Marieke Visser will be co-discussant joining the CATAPULT Lockdown Virtual Salon on October 30, 2020, with Katarina Coombs (Jamaica) (1PM AST, 14:00 hrs in Suriname, 18:00 hrs in the Netherlands) and Gabrielle Wilkes (Trinidad & Tobago) (). All the editions of CATAPULT Lockdown Virtual Salon can be seen through live-stream via the Fresh Milk YouTube channel, every Tuesday and Friday between September 29th & November 20th, 2020, at 1PM AST (14:00 hrs in Suriname, 18:00 hrs in the Netherlands) and 4PM AST (17:00 hrs in Suriname, 21:00 hrs in the Netherlands) (please subscribe!), but will be archived immediately so you can see them anytime you want.
